Joshua's Story
Joshua is a Resident in Counseling who earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in September 2025. He practices at Bridge to Balance under the supervision of Kristi Gibney, LPC. With a background in IT and Big 4 consulting, Joshua brings a clear, structured approach to therapy while staying deeply human, present, and relational.

Many high functioning people look “fine” on the outside while quietly struggling on the inside. Anxiety that lives in the body. Overthinking and mental noise that never shuts off. Low mood, fatigue, and loss of motivation. Panic, irritability, and feeling emotionally flat. Burnout, perfectionism, people pleasing, and difficulty setting boundaries without guilt. Relationship patterns that repeat even when you know better. Shame, self doubt, and a harsh inner critic that keeps you stuck.

Joshua works with adults and couples, including faith based and executive clients, to help reduce distress and create real internal change. His work is depth informed and clinically grounded. Together, you will identify the patterns driving your symptoms, understand triggers and attachment dynamics, challenge cognitive distortions, and strengthen emotional regulation and communication. The goal is not just insight. The goal is integration, stability, and a life that feels aligned with your values.

For clients who want it, Joshua offers faith integrated counseling that respects both psychological science and biblical truth. He often draws on the concept of metanoia, a change of mind, as a practical framework for therapy. Not as a slogan, but as a process of examining beliefs, renewing thought patterns, and building new responses that are consistent, workable, and life giving. He also appreciates the wisdom of ancient Christianity as a source of formation, meaning, and steady grounding when a client desires that integration.

Above all, Joshua emphasizes the therapeutic alliance. In an age of information overload, there is no substitute for a consistent, emotionally safe relationship where you can be fully honest, understood, and challenged with care. That relationship is often where change becomes possible.

If you are ready to stop managing symptoms and start addressing patterns, Joshua would be honored to meet with you.
